Music

“I play the notes as they are written, but it is God who makes the music.”
J. S. Bach

The LUMC community loves music and supports all efforts by our music-makers as we help to lead our congregation in worship.

Choir

Our “adult” choir (“adult” meaning high school or late middle school onward) dedicates their time and talent to supporting worship song and providing an anthem most Sundays. We welcome singers any time, anyone willing to make a regular commitment to attend most rehearsals and worship services. (No, you do not have to read music!)

If you are interested in giving choir a try, just come or speak to any choir member or contact Diane at diane.withiam@gmail.com. We meet most Wednesday evenings at 7 p.m. for an hour or so, from the first Wednesday after Labor Day through early June.

Handbell Choir

Our handbell choir, “Bells’ Angels”, is open to new members and will train anyone who wants to try them out.  They want you to know that they are more about having fun than being musical geniuses and that “ringing handbells makes you richer and more attractive so come be a ding-a-ling with them”. Contact Sharon Powell in person or at spowell333789@gmail.com.

Kids!

Children sing on a regular basis with Monica VanEvery before Sunday School most weeks.

None of the above?

You may have other musical gifts to offer – vocal or instrumental, solo or ensemble, leading or collaborating, working with children or with adults. Your artistic bent may extend beyond music, to visual arts or the arts of movement and drama. Let us know your interest, we strive to be a safe and affirming place to let your light shine.

Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth.
Worship the Lord with gladness;
    come into his presence with singing.

Psalm 100:1-2 (NRSV)
