Youth Mission

Youth Mission

Since its beginning in the early 1990s, Lansing Youth Mission has brought youth from the Lansing United Methodist Church and the All Saints Catholic Church  together with opportunities for fellowship, service and spiritual growth.
The group undertakes local, national, and international mission trips to provide opportunities for persons of different cultures and backgrounds to interact in a mutually beneficial way.  In the past, groups have traveled to:

  • Puerto Rico – Helped with rebuilding after Hurricane Hugo
  • Johns Island in South Carolina – Worked on repairing homes
  • West Virginia – Helped to improve substandard housing in the area
  • Guatemala – Worked on building stoves, reforestation, and coffee sorting

Mission trip participants pay for their own travel, so all funds raised go to mission projects.

Fundraisers to support upcoming trips include a talents and goods auction, a chili-cookoff, a cross-Cayuga swim, a pancake breakfast at Applebee’s, and a spaghetti dinner. Ongoing fundraisers include monthly can/bottle drives and fair-trade coffee, chocolate, and Guatemalan crafts sales.
